Hoogweg Bell Pepper Nursery

Commissioned by Verbeek Projects B.V. we recently started building the steel construction for the biomass installations and the new main building of the Hoogweg bell pepper nursery in Luttelgeest. High-quality peppers are produced here in the most efficient and sustainable way.

Fire safety

It was a challenging project, because the steel construction had to be built over two large biomass installations. That is why careful consideration had to be given in advance about the crane positions and the use of the aerial platform. Wood chips are burned in these biomass installations. The heat that is released is used to heat water for the heating system in the greenhouses in Luttelgeest. With an eye out for fire safety, Kampstaal has also placed a special concrete fire wall next to the construction and the floors.

A team effort

During this project, the various divisions within GB Steel Group once again collaborated extensively. For example, Kamplacon took care of the roof and wall cladding. Staalbouw Nauta has partly produced the steel construction in addition to Kampstaal.

Even more steel

Kampstaal also provided the complete steel construction for the new main building, which measures 260 m long and 48 m wide. In addition, Kampstaal will install a number of floors in the final phase of the project.
